· Developed by the Italian motorcycle, 3-wheel truck, and refrigerator builder, Renzo Rivolta’s Iso SpA.
· The Isetta was an efficient and affordable form of transportation following World War II. Introduced in 1953, named the “Isetta” meaning “Little Iso”. The Isetta was later sold and licensed to BMW for manufacture in Germany. The resulting sales saved BMW from bankruptcy!
· The lowest price car to buy and the least expensive car to operate in the world. A motorcycle motor, 13 HP at 5200 rpm. A teardrop shape for low wind drag. The rear wheels were set close together to avoid the need and the expense of a differential.
· 4 speed manual transmission with reverse, 3.4 gallons of gasoline, 55 mph max speed.
· Weight is 770lb, over 500lb carrying capacity, 60-70 mpg
